Fire forces residents from Rogers Park building

Several residents of a Rogers Park apartment building were evacuated this morning after a fire broke out on the back porches of their building.
Several residents of a Rogers Park apartment building were evacuated this morning after a fire broke out on the back porches of their building.
No injuries were reported during the blaze, which was first reported at about 7:51 a.m. at the four-story building in the the 1400 block of Albion Avenue, said Rich Rosado, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.
The fire spread to a 1½-story frame house around the corner in the 6500 block of North Newgard Avenue and caused some damage.
Witnesses on the scene said it appeared the fire originated on the third or fourth level of the building. It was struck out by about 8:30 a.m., Rosado said.
