Firefighter injured in Far South Side blaze
A firefighter was taken to the hospital in good condition with a minor injury suffered at a blaze at a vacant building on the Far South Side in the city's West Pullman neighborhood.
The fire broke out about 3:15 a.m. at a vacant 1½-story brick bungalow in the 12000 block of South Perry Avenue, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Joe Roccasalva.
As of 4 a.m., firefighters were still on the scene, he said.
The roof of the building collapsed and a firefighter was injured, but he was taken in good condition with a face laceration to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, Roccaslava said.
No other injuries were reported in the blaze, he said.
